Bali Entry Requirements: What You Need to Know Before You Travel

Planning your dream trip to Bali? As one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, it's important to stay updated with the latest entry requirements to ensure a smooth journey. In this post, we'll guide you through the essential pre-flight checklist to enter Bali, including the new tourism tax, visa requirements, health protocols, and customs declarations.

1. New Bali Tourism Tax: IDR 150K (USD 10)

Starting from 2024, Bali has introduced a tourism tax to help preserve the island's natural beauty and cultural heritage. This tax applies to all international travelers entering Bali and costs IDR 150,000 (approximately USD 10). You can pay this tax online through the official Love Bali website (http://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/). Be sure to complete this payment before your flight to avoid delays upon arrival.

2. Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD)

Bali has moved to an electronic customs declaration system, allowing travelers to complete the process online. This must be done before your arrival to speed up your entry through the airport. The customs declaration is required for all travelers, and it can be submitted via the official Electronic Customs Declaration website (http://ecd.beacukai.go.id/).

3. Visa on Arrival (VOA): IDR 500K (USD 33)

Most travelers visiting Bali for leisure are eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VOA), which allows a stay of up to 30 days. This visa costs IDR 500,000 (approximately USD 33). To skip the long airport queues, we recommend applying for your visa online through the Indonesian immigration website (http://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/). This will enable you to use the automated gates and breeze through the airport in just a few minutes.

Completing the VOA application online is straightforward and user-friendly. However, it's important to carefully review and meet all the listed requirements to ensure your visa gets approved. If any criteria are not fulfilled, your application may be denied. In the event of non-approval, you will need to reapply and pay the fee again.

Step by step:

  1. Access the website http://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/

  2. Click on "Apply"

  3. Input your passport's country

  4. Input the main purpose of your visit (please note: tourists should choose the option "General, Family or Social")

  5. Input the sub-purpose (please note: tourists should choose the option "Tourism, Family Visit, or Transit")

  6. Choose your visa type (please note: tourists should choose the option "B1 Tourist Visa on Arrival")

  7. Carefully review all the input information to ensure accuracy.

  8. Click on "Apply"

  9. Upload all needed documents, strictly following the format specified in the website (documents not following the specified format will result in visa denial)

  10. Input your payment information

Your visa should be issued within 5 working days, and you can track the status on the website by logging in. Once your visa has been approved, it is ready to be downloaded!

If you need an extension, you can apply for an additional 30 days through the same portal. Keep in mind that your passport must be valid for at least six months from your entry date to be eligible for the VOA.

4. SATUSEHAT Health Pass (SSHP)

Due to ongoing health concerns, the SATUSEHAT Health Pass (SSHP) is a mandatory requirement for entry into Indonesia, including Bali. This pass ensures that travelers meet the current health protocols in place. You can register and complete the necessary steps through the SATUSEHAT website (http://sshp.kemkes.go.id/).

With these requirements in mind, your trip to Bali should be smooth and hassle-free. Make sure to stay updated with any changes to entry protocols, as they may evolve. Don't forget to finalize your travel arrangements by completing all pre-flight requirements and paying necessary fees online.
