The Heartfelt Journey of Lai's Lodges
In the vibrant heart of Ubud, where nature’s beauty and deep tradition intertwine, Lai's Lodges stands as a testament to heritage, friendship, and resilience. Originally founded in 2020 as Lai's Villas, the property was born out of love and reverence for Pak Lai— the great-grandfather of the modern founders. Naming the retreat after him was a way to honor his legacy and the values he instilled—strength, humility, and the beauty of harmony with nature.
For four challenging years, the founders dedicated their hearts and souls to showcasing the true spirit of Ubud. Running Lai's Villas was more than a business; it was a family effort, a labor of love rooted in their desire to share the enchanting spirit of Bali with travelers from around the world. Yet, the journey was not without obstacles. The demands of maintenance and management often tested their perseverance, and despite their best efforts, Lai's faced difficulties that ultimately led to its closure.
But true to the spirit of Bali—its resilience and its community—the story didn't end there.
In 2025, a new chapter began, one inspired by friendship and shared dreams. The founders of Lai's united with the passionate team behind Zen Soul Bali, and together, they envisioned a new beginning for Lai's. With blessing from Pak Lai’s family and a deep respect for the legacy, Lai's was reborn—not just as a place to stay, but as a symbol of continuity, connection, and renewal.
Renamed Lai's Lodges, this iconic retreat now embodies the love and spirit of its origins, offering travelers an authentic experience immersed in Bali’s natural beauty.
